Through snow and wood we traveled far
to reach a river frozen stiff.
He drilled holes and set our lines
While [our butts] we licked and sniffed.
We heard a sound under the ice
That certainly was not a fish.
An arctic mermaid soon emerged
and granted me a Christmas wish.
